What makes a law enforcement manager a leader? How do you mentor an officer to rise above mediocrity to become an exemplary employee? How does holding yourself and others accountable for acts and for failures to act impact the law enforcement organization?
Throughout our careers we are conditioned to recognize and respond to negative behavior. How does that impact us as law enforcement managers? While the universal laws of accountability apply to the law enforcement profession, we face challenges unique to our field.
This course provides candid discussion of our shortcomings and strengths as managers. It defines accountability relative to the law enforcement organization and describes best practices to improve accountability up and down the chain-of-command.
We study the application of Ethics and critical thinking skills to law enforcement decision-making and problem-solving. Tools such as learning style assessments, mind-maps, performance evaluations and reward systems are identified. This class is designed to inform, inspire and encourage all participants to become law enforcement leaders.
